FAMILY SAFARIS

Having lived in Africa for 25 years in four different countries in national parks and wildlife areas, and raised a family here, family safaris are something of a speciality. A safari is one of the most magical holidays to experience as a family. Surrounded by nature, sharing exciting moments together witnessing wildlife and learning from amazing guides along the way, this is a very binding holiday with everyone on the same footing.

Children hate spending hours in a vehicle and the best family safaris combine active lodges with masses of activities, with enough wildlife to keep everyone in awe. The days are long, early starts to catch the best wildlife sightings after dawn, and long exciting days. You won’t believe how much you will pack into this time, and all the different memories you will take home. We recommend a week on safari at two different camps or lodges - you don’t want to move more often than this or you will spend days travelling rather than enjoying being on the ground and getting into the bones of a place. A few days at the coast relaxing in a private villa, a barefoot eco lodge, snorkelling, fishing and swimming in the Indian Ocean is an excellent way to recharge the batteries before heading home. Or if you are in Zimbawe or Zambia, ending up in Victoria Falls in a lodge overlooking the Zambezi, visiting the mighty falls and relaxing on the river is a wonderful way to end a safari.

We specialise in multi-generation holidays, children, parents and grandparents, once in a lifetime trips to the best lodges in Africa. Mindful of what is best for the grandparents, and the smallest ones, we have the perfect matches for everyone to ensure this very special holiday is more than what you hoped for.

ROMANTIC SAFARIS

Africa is the most romantic place in the world to visit. Huge space, golden light, dramatic skies, extraordinary wildlife and scenery. Amidst these scenes, there are some incredible destinations to stay in. We always seek out the most personal, the lowest key but highest quality, sympathetic to the environment but not short on comfort.

We have a selection of honeymoon spots, selected for privacy as well as all the other important factors mentioned. You might be looking for a special place to travel to for an anniversary or just a memorable holiday of a lifetime with a loved one.

Please get in touch and we will arrange a chat with you to find out exactly what kind of experience you are hoping for.

GROUPS AND SOLO SAFARIS

Travelling with a group of friends, or people with a special interest you share, we have a lot of experience planning trips for groups of up to 20 people. You might be on a work trip, doing field work, an assessment or reconnaissance trip or a holiday; we can help plan your trip whatever your mission.

You might be a solo traveller, and we can ensure you stay in small and personal lodges where you will become part of the furniture, feeling at home throughout your stay. If you are a lone wolf and want more privacy you may prefer bigger lodges where you join others on game drives but are happy to focus on a passion for photography for example, without having to make polite conversation at every meal! There is something for everyone and we are more than happy to discuss your preference and point you in the right direction.

Riding Safaris

RIDING SAFARIS

Horse-riding safaris with complete strangers for ten days in the Masai Mara, Botswana or South Africa are incredible journeys and you often make life long friends. With a background in riding safaris, and a keen amateur one day eventer, I have been lucky to ride in most of the best riding safari areas in Africa. You might be travelling on holiday with a non-riding partner and want to do a few rides each day from a lodge in a reserve whilst they enjoy something different. We have all the options available and are happy to discuss on the phone.

WALKING SAFARIS

I spent five years running walking safaris in Zimbabwe, working with some of the best guides in Africa in my twenties. Tracking black rhino and lions in Matusadona and sleeping in tiny mobile tented camps each night, moving camp each day in pursuit of game. This is one of the most in depth wildlife experiences you can have, and you cannot get closer to nature than staying in a mobile camp and walking or riding each day. I am passionate about discovering the bush on foot, led by an expert, and would be delighted to help you plan a walking safari. It is not for everyone, and you will certainly tick off more species speeding past in a Land Cruiser, but if you want to learn more, sharpen your senses and really feel an encounter with an elephant or lion up close but quietly and respectfully, then you should try a walking safari. There is nothing more exciting or memorable.

FISHING SAFARIS

Fishing for tigerfish on the Zambezi, for Nile Perch in Uganda on the Nile, or for big game fish in the Indian Ocean, we can plan a complete fishing adventure for you, or you might fit it into a traditional safari with scope for some fishing as part of your trip. We can advise you on the best time of year to visit each area for each fish, and where to stay to ensure you are well equipped and well guided.
